  • Scientific Directorate

    The Scientific Director is appointed by the Ministry of Health, after hearing the President of the Marche Region, pursuant to art. 5 of Legislative Decree no. 288/03 and subsequent modifications and supplements.
    The Scientific Director promotes, coordinates and manages the scientific research activities of the various company areas for which he/she is responsible, agreeing annually with the Director General on the financing of the same, in relation to the guidelines established by the Steering and Monitoring Committee.
    Establishes relationships with industry, public and private entities by making available the scientific potential of the IRCCS for technological development and applied research. Promotes scientific activity through the organization of refresher courses and training in scientific research. It promotes the dissemination of research results through the annual scientific report.
    The Scientific Director presides over the Scientific Technical Committee and expresses the mandatory opinion of the Director General regarding the acts concerning clinical and scientific activities as well as the recruitment and use of medical and non-medical personnel within the activities themselves.

    Fabrizia  LATTANZIO    
    Dr Fabrizia Lattanzio, MD, PhD, MSc, geriatrician, was appointed Scientific Director of the Italian National Centre on Health and Science on Aging in 2008.
    Her areas of expertise include: multimorbidity, frailty, screening methods in kidney diseases, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics. She has contributed in over 180 publications indexed in Medline. She coordinates INRCA research activities on 4 different areas: Biogerontology, Healthy ageing, Treatment of the elderly patient, and Health care Models and socio-economic aspects.
    She is the coordinator of the Italian Research Network of IRCCSs (Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare) on Aging and the Scientific Coordinator of the IRCCS INRCA Biobank “BioGer”, that is included in the Directory COVID-19 of the BBMRI-ERIC. She has a long-standing experience in geriatric research projects in various settings, as Principal Investigator, at national and international level, and coordinator of several multicenter studies, including the SCOPE (H2020) project, European Research Innovation Action titled Screening for chronic kidney disease among the elderly across Europe.
